Summary

This study investigated the proportion of articulatory errors, variation of articulatory production, and deviation of reaction time according to phonetic complexity in children with and without speech sound disorder (SSD). The results showed that in typically developing children, articulatory errors and variability decreased with age, while children with SSD exhibited higher articulatory error rates and variability compared to their chronological age-matched peers. These findings suggest that articulatory variability is a more general symptom present in both typically developing and SSD children.
