Summary

This study analyzes the responses of 3rd grade middle school students to constructed-response items in the national English assessment to identify achievement characteristics at different levels. The results showed that advanced students could write accurately with no errors, proficient students showed grammar errors and Korean-to-English translation issues, and basic students struggled to understand the text.
