Epichlorohydrin (ECH) was polymerized via cationic ring-opening polymerization using hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene as an initiator, favoring an activated monomer mechanism. The resulting block copolymer PECH-PB-PECH was separated by fractional precipitation. However, complete azidation of PECH-PB-PECH was not achieved due to entanglement with unreacted polymers during high-temperature azidation.
