Summary

This study aims to establish that the ㄹ initial law is a diachronic phenomenon that began in Middle Korean and completed in Modern Korean. From the 15th to the 18th century, the ㄹ initial law underwent a gradual expansion process, influenced by regional characteristics, social class, and the language perception of the compiler. This process resulted in an overall S-shaped rising curve for the ㄹ initial law.
