This study analyzed the differences in media exposure between official sponsors and general companies in mega sport events. Text analysis of articles related to the 2016 Rio Olympics revealed that the media exposure frequency of general companies was not significantly different from that of official sponsors, suggesting ambush marketing is an effective strategy.
