Summary
This study analyzed the lived world of elderly mothers who lost their adult children to suicide through a phenomenological case study. The results showed that the mother's lived world was characterized by ‘suspended life’, ‘vanished universe’, ‘body running toward death’, and ‘ongoing process of recovery’, integrated by the theme of ‘a beam of light in the pitch darkness’. Based on these findings, the study proposed social and policy recommendations for supporting suicide bereavement families and preventing suicide.
