This study discusses the necessity of legalizing multicultural education due to the increase in multicultural families and foreign-born population in Korea, and analyzes the limitations and problems of existing multicultural education related laws. The analysis reveals differences in perception regarding the concept and subject of multicultural education, and limitations in the laws despite policy changes. Based on these findings, the study proposes the need for independent legislation for multicultural education led by the Ministry of Education.
