This study identifies problems in world literature education in the era of globalization and explores the direction of literature education from a global citizenship perspective. It particularly suggests re-examining the values of East Asian culture and implementing literature education that reflects diversity, moving away from Western-centered education. The study emphasizes that the characteristics of East Asian culture (emphasis on groups, understanding of others, consideration, and tolerance) align with the goals of global citizenship education, and proposes a new direction for literature education based on this.
