Summary

This study investigated the English summary writing skills of Korean low-level college students. The results showed that students could select the most important idea units from the text but struggled to choose major details and moderately important information for inclusion in the summary. Furthermore, they heavily relied on the source text, as indicated by the frequent use of a summary protocol involving direct replication of ideas.
