Summary

This study examines the meaning and features of software education from the perspective of computational thinking, explores the current status and main issues in schools, and suggests the role of educational technology. Software education is crucial for fostering creative problem-solving skills in the era of Industry 4.0, and is discussed in terms of curriculum, instruction, teacher training, and effectiveness. Future roles for educational technologists include participation in the discourse on software education, instructional design, development of tools for analyzing classroom activities, competency modeling, and strengthening research collaboration.
