Summary

This paper proposes a model predictive control based rear wheel torque vectoring algorithm for improving the driving stability of a 4WD vehicle. The proposed algorithm calculates the optimal longitudinal tire forces of the rear wheels and determines the torque distribution considering the vehicle dynamic model and tire force limits. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm provides reasonable torque distribution and good driving stability.
