Summary

This study analyzed the evidence presented by experts to improve learners' critical listening ability in TV debates. The analysis revealed various problems in the use of evidence by experts, such as failure to fulfill the burden of proof, omission of evidence, and expressing claims as evidence. These problems can serve as a basis for constructing concrete teaching and learning contents such as analysis and evaluation of individual arguments and grasping of disputes.
