Summary

This study proposes a gait phase discrimination technique for effective muscle support of wearable walking assist robots. Gait phases are discriminated by measuring hip joint angle changes using an encoder and a state machine-based algorithm, and the validity of the proposed algorithm is verified through experiments with an SEA-based walking assist robot.
