This study analyzes the current state and institutionalization process of the South Korean tattoo industry, and explores ways to professionalize tattooists. Through participant observation and in-depth interviews with domestic tattoo industry workers, the study found that the South Korean tattoo world is undergoing institutionalization and professionalization, forming its own regulations and customs reflecting social demands.
