Summary

This study explores alternative instructional design directions by integrating social epidemiology and behavioral economics. From a social epidemiology perspective, it proposes an ecological learning ecosystem, consideration of the social context of learner behavior, multi-level analysis, and a lifelong approach. From a behavioral economics perspective, it suggests default design, affordance design, feedback loop design, and coherent design. Ultimately, it presents a blueprint for changes in existing instructional design and the evolving role of instructional designers.
