Summary

This study examined the relationships between individual, peer, teacher, and class factors and the reactions of elementary school students to bullying from an ecological perspective. The results showed that students in higher grades and male students were more likely to react negatively to bullying, and significant differences existed between defenders and other participants regarding individual, peer, teacher, and class variables. Individual psychological variables were found to be the most influential factor, and teacher-related variables were more explanatory of defenders’ behaviors.
