This paper aims to explain how revenge could be an important reception experience by reading hero novels in terms of ‘revenge narrative’. In hero novels, revenge expands beyond individual problems to become a punishment for harm to the community, and readers reconstruct their perception of moral values and social reality through the pleasure of revenge. This revenge narrative influences the reader's reception in various aspects such as war, morality, human nature, and social reality.
