This study aimed to investigate the relationship between attitude toward patient safety, empowerment, awareness, performance of standard precaution for healthcare associated infection control and prevention, and to identify the influencing factors of the performance in nursing students. The results showed that awareness, empowerment, and participation in the patient safety campaign influenced the performance of standard precautions, explaining 51.0% of the variance. Therefore, to improve the performance of standard precautions for nursing students, educational programs to raise awareness and improve empowerment, and strategies to promote active participation in patient safety campaigns are needed.
