This study explores the potential of narrative in medical education, examining the development of medical education from the beginning of the medical school in Bologna in the Middle Ages to the present day. It particularly emphasizes the importance of narrative education along with the shift from science-centered medical education in the 20th century to medical humanities education, and suggests the difficulties of applying it to the actual medical school curriculum and the need for future research.
