This study explores why economic voting theories do not work well in Korean elections, empirically confirming that weak party support bases and generational differences influence economic voting. Specifically, respondents with a supporting party are more likely to engage in retrospective voting, while independents are more likely to engage in prospective voting, and younger generations tend to vote for the ruling party based on their evaluation of the economic situation.
