Summary

This study analyzed the experiences and perceptions of physical space environments in psychiatric wards, focusing on healing design elements (safety, privacy, etc.) through focus-group interviews with inpatients and psychiatric hospital staff. The results showed that current psychiatric wards are overly focused on safety to prevent self-harm and lack other healing design elements.
