Summary

This study aims to compare the types and features of questions presented in the ‘Shadows and Mirrors’ unit of elementary science textbooks in Korea, the UK, and Singapore to derive implications for the composition of questions in Korean science textbooks. The analysis revealed that Korean textbooks have fewer questions and a higher question ratio compared to other countries, with a higher proportion of non-experiential questions, while the UK and Singapore have an overwhelmingly high proportion of focusing questions.
