Summary

This study proposes the need to distinguish /h/ realized in sonorant environments into phonetic and phonological layers to address the phonological issues of /h/ optionally realized after sonorant consonants. The results show that ‘h-vowel’ is realized through coarticulation with the following vowel, while /h/ in the ‘sonorant consonant-h-vowel’ environment is understood as phonologically deleted.
