Summary

This study identified major environmental factors affecting plant communities in the drawdown zone of the Soyangho Reservoir in South Korea, and analyzed plant community changes and seed bank composition along water level fluctuations. Plant community structure varied along vertical and longitudinal gradients, with annual plants near the water edge and perennial plants at higher elevations. Seed bank composition also differed along the vertical gradient, with greater similarity between the seed bank and extant vegetation in the annual communities at low elevation.
