Summary

This study analyzes the habitat distribution of tigers, wolves, and leopards recorded in Joseonwangjosilok to obtain information necessary for the restoration of historically extinct animals due to human-induced habitat encroachment. A distribution map was created based on 402 records (350 tigers, 51 leopards, and 1 wolf) from the 14th to the early 20th century, and the location of animals was identified by comparing geographical information and historical data. The results showed that tigers were mainly found in the capital area and cities like Daegu and Andong, while leopards and wolves were limited to specific regions such as Gyeonggi-do and Jinju.
