Summary

This study analyzed the diverse relationships and meanings formed by digital pictures in early childhood classrooms through the lens of actor-network theory. The results showed that digital pictures function as active agents that change play and classroom culture, forming a complex network that serves various roles such as rewards for children’s play, surveillance, a space to revisit play, and a space for teachers to demonstrate their professionalism. This challenges existing educational discourses and anthropocentric thinking, emphasizing the need to focus on the diverse voices of classroom/educational culture.
