Summary

This study investigated the effect of stance width and auxiliary height on lower limb muscle activity during Smith machine squat exercise in female college students. EMG measurements and ANOVA analysis revealed that stance width significantly affected vastus medialis activity, while auxiliary height significantly affected tibialis anterior activity. The findings suggest targeted muscle enhancement through appropriate squat variations and emphasize the importance of proper posture during machine and free training.
