This study explores the impact of German press coverage on changes in refugee policy and its implications for Korean asylum policy during a crucial period of agenda-setting for the refugee and asylum crisis. The Paris terror attacks and Cologne sexual assaults inflamed German public opinion towards refugees, contributing to the rise of the far-right AfD party and forcing a compromise on asylum policy reform. The findings suggest that the Korean government should cooperate with the media to improve public perception of asylum seekers and prepare a comprehensive asylum policy.
