Summary

This study examines the formation of ethnicity and identity in Israeli Jewish society, focusing on the case of Yemenite Jews. Following the establishment of Israel, the government attempted Judaization and De-Arabization during the integration of diverse groups, while early European settlers discriminated against Jews from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), labeling them as Mizrahim. In response to this discrimination, Yemenite Jews formed a distinct ethnic identity in opposition to Israeli mainstream society.
