Summary
This study investigated the mental health status of community-dwelling full-time homemakers and the effect of the value assessment of housework on depression. The results showed that 45.2% of full-time homemakers experienced depression, 39.6% anxiety, and 60.9% hopelessness, with burden of nurturing, monthly income, and marital relationship being associated with depression. Furthermore, the gap between socially- and self-evaluated value of housework negatively impacted depression levels.
