This study aimed to comprehensively understand the moral distress experienced by nursing students during clinical practice in a restricted psychiatric ward through in-depth interviews and content analysis. The results revealed five categories of moral distress: psychological conflict regarding patient restraint, questioning the appropriateness of medical treatment, regret over the violation of patient rights, discomfort due to the inability to help patients, and difficulty in determining appropriate words and actions.
