Summary

This study analyzed the case of “Lectures on North Korea and Unification” from 2016-2018 to explore the perception of North Korea and the tasks of education for understanding North Korea among students at Pusan National University of Education. Students had a negative perception of North Korea but believed that North Korean residents should be separated from the regime and treated with warmth, and their interest and understanding of North Korea increased through the course. The study suggests establishing independent courses, a daily life-centered approach, utilizing North Korean defectors, a multi-layered approach, and utilizing various teaching methods as tasks for education for understanding North Korea.
