Summary
This study explores the experiences and meanings of women who have provided foster care for children awaiting overseas adoption through narrative inquiry, and suggests implications for supporting foster families. The findings revealed that foster mothers defined foster families in various ways, and a group narrative was constructed reflecting the intersection of individual experiences and the sociocultural context. This demonstrates that foster care contributes to the development and growth of not only the children but also the foster mothers and their families.
