Summary

This study examined the effects of middle school students’ perceptions of Home Economics teachers’ power bases on self-determination academic motivation, importance, and interest in the subject. The results indicated that teachers’ power base types positively influenced self-determination academic motivation, with referent and expert power positively affecting the importance and interest in Home Economics. Furthermore, the perceived importance and interest in Home Economics partially mediated the relationship between power bases and self-determination academic motivation.
