Summary

This study investigated the hepatoprotective effect of hydrogen sulfide in rats with hepatic encephalopathy. Administration of sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS) reduced levels of aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase, indicators of liver disease, and significantly decreased ammonia levels, a major causative factor of hepatic encephalopathy. These results suggest that NaHS exhibits hepatoprotective effects and protects against neurotoxicity through antioxidant and anti-inflammatory actions.
