Summary

Since 2000, Russia has sought to establish partnerships in Northeast Asia to form a multipolar system and maintain strategic stability on the Korean Peninsula through equidistant diplomacy. Following Putin’s return to presidency, Russia has focused on expanding economic cooperation with the two Koreas to support the development of the Far East and Siberia, recognizing the Korean Peninsula’s importance in both security and economic dimensions.
