Summary

This study examined how late-talkers with limited expressive vocabulary apply taxonomic assumptions at different semantic levels, revealing that late-talkers showed limitations in using taxonomic assumptions compared to typical children, particularly at the basic level. While typical children showed a preference for taxonomic stimuli when novel words were presented at the superordinate level, late-talkers did not.
