Summary

This study explores how to utilize transversal competencies in English classes in Korean secondary schools. The results revealed that principals and teachers recognized the importance of developing students’ competencies and endeavored to enhance students’ reading, writing skills, as well as collaboration, creativity, and ICT utilization skills through various activities. These findings can provide crucial information on integrating competency-based education into English classes and can be utilized as a resource for developing an English curriculum emphasizing competency development.
