Summary
This study qualitatively examined the forms of social disregard and recognition experienced by adolescent single mothers. The results showed that adolescent single mothers experience social disregard such as rejection due to early pregnancy, discrimination in their role as caregivers, and being viewed as social deviants, while also experiencing social recognition through love from their children, support from family and friends, and assistance from others. Through these experiences, adolescent single mothers recognize their own value and become aware of others and the socially vulnerable.
