Summary

South Korea and North Korea exhibit significant differences in their goals and content of history education, which could become a challenge for social integration after unification. However, considering that history is a record of past events and can be narrated differently depending on interpretation and evaluation, reaching a consensus through extensive discussion is possible. Diversifying the content of Korean history and the curriculum within South Korea is also an important task.
