This study provides a political-economic review of the currency war debates triggered by the quantitative easing policies of major developed countries after the 2008 crisis. While existing economic discussions tend to understand the concept of currency as a market function and limit the currency war to market variables such as exchange rates, this study interprets currency as a social construct and the currency war as a way for the debt economy to resolve the crisis. This analysis explores the political-economic implications and problems of the currency war.
