This study aims to produce evidence-based knowledge on the history of Taekwondo by examining the naming and founding date of the Joseon-Yeonmukwan Kwonbupbu, considered the foundation of modern Taekwondo. The research found that Joseon-Yeonmukwan was a Judo school founded in Seoul in 1931, and the newly established martial art class in 1946 was initially called 'Dangsubu' before changing to 'Kwonbupbu' and used until the Korean War. The founding date of Kwonbupbu was determined to be March 2nd, 1946.
