Summary

This study confirmed the anti-inflammatory effect of antibacterial peptide derivative Ab4-7 isolated from abalone on the west coast. Ab4-7 inhibited inflammatory cytokines and related genes, and increased the expression of antioxidant genes, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic agent for inflammatory skin diseases. In particular, Ab4-7 showed an effect of regulating matrix metalloproteinase (MMPs) genes by involving in the decomposition of extracellular matrix metalloproteinase (ECM).
