This study analyzes the organization of ‘small groups’ by female workers in novels and labor memoirs from the 1970s to the 1980s as ‘place-making’ and its significance. Female workers formed solidarity and resisted oppression by actively creating their own ‘rooms’ through small groups like the Industrial Mission Association. This ‘place-making’ served as a driving force supporting their leading role in the labor movement.
