This study investigates the civilian massacres that occurred in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region, particularly in Yeongdeok-gun, before and after the Korean War. A total of 1,093 civilians were killed in Yeongdeok-gun, representing the largest number of casualties in the Gyeongbuk province during that period. The casualties were mainly caused by military and police suppression and the Bodo Yeonmaeng incident, and most of the victims were young male farmers in their 20s and 30s.
