Summary

This study analyzes the philosophical problems of multicultural education in Korea facing the multicultural phenomenon and seeks a philosophical basis through critical evaluation of existing multicultural education models. It reviews three models – assimilationism, integrationism, and multiculturalism – and suggests utilizing interculturalism, emerging in German society, as a philosophical foundation for Korean multicultural policies and education. Future multicultural education philosophy should aim for reciprocal and comprehensive cultural discourse.
