This study investigated the effects of COVID-19 mortality salience on opinion polarization regarding governmental response, focusing on the mediating role of selective exposure and the moderating role of political orientation. The results showed that selective exposure and political orientation significantly influenced opinion polarization on the general assessment of governmental response, with more conservative individuals exhibiting increased polarization through selective exposure to confirming information.
