Summary

This article examines the missional challenges and crises facing Korean churches in the post-COVID-19 era, based on “missional ecclesiology,” and seeks alternatives for recovering public witness. It identifies the causes of the excarnation and privatization of Christian witness and proposes the role of churches as “being with others” in times of disaster through the mission of “compassion-solidarity.” In the pandemic, missional churches can fulfill their public responsibilities and function as alternative spaces for sustaining communal life through mission toward the Kingdom of God.
