This study compared the effects of dietary methanol extract (MEER) and n-hexane extract (HEER) of elecampane rhizome on growth performance, feed digestibility, intestinal microbiota, antioxidant status, and intestinal morphology in broiler chickens. Increased body weight gain and decreased feed conversion ratio were observed in groups fed MEER 1000 or HEER 1000 during the finisher and entire periods, with MEER showing a greater growth-promoting effect than HEER. Elevated extract levels increased beneficial Lactobacillus spp. and suppressed harmful Escherichia coli and Clostridium spp., and MEER demonstrated superior improvements in intestinal microbiota and antioxidant capacity compared to HEER.
