Summary

This study analyzed the factors influencing teachers’ instructional improvement effort inside the school using hierarchical linear modeling at both principal and teacher levels. The results showed that teachers’ instructional improvement effort varied depending on the principal's competence, and teacher training institution type, teaching years, and homeroom teacher status had a positive impact. Furthermore, the principal's positive perception of teachers influenced teachers’ instructional improvement effort outside the school.
